Our Hawk

There are a few vacant fields nearby our house here in Rancho Cucamonga. Ever since moving here in June we noticed a hawk would sit on a telephone pole and watch out for his meal somewhere below.

When the temperatures started to soar in late Summer and early Fall, we noticed our hawk wasn't there all of the time (but would sometimes show up at dusk).

Now that the temperatures are cooling off again, I have seen him every day.

Yesterday we watched him dive down and get some food.
Today I got just a fantastic view of him close up sitting on a telephone pole.

And I just would have taken a picture if I hadn't been driving 35 with cars behind me. Ugh. It was beautiful.. looked just like this.
